Some professional experiences are meaningful because they give us the opportunity to contribute to someone else’s work.
Recently, Janis Renay Schiffner shared some exciting news with me: her book, Profiles in the Dark and Behind Broken Glass, is now available on Amazon, and my quote is featured on the back cover.
I was pleased to see the finished cover and grateful to be included in the publication.
I wanted to share this moment here because I appreciate the people who create, publish, and share their work with readers. An author’s journey involves considerable effort, and every new publication represents an important milestone.
A Book Title That Raises Questions
The title Profiles in the Dark and Behind Broken Glass caught my attention because it suggests a distinction between what we see and what may exist beneath the surface.
In everyday life, we often rely on first impressions. We form opinions from conversations, behavior, and the information available to us. But these impressions rarely provide a complete understanding of another person’s experiences.
Consider a simple example.
You meet someone who says very little during a discussion. It is easy to interpret that silence as disinterest. But perhaps the person is carefully considering what has been said, dealing with a difficult day, or simply choosing their words thoughtfully.
The observation is the same; the explanation may be very different.
This is why perspective matters. It reminds us to distinguish what we know from what we assume.
The title of Schiffner’s book brings this idea to mind, although the book’s full themes and message are best understood by reading the work itself.
Why I Am Sharing This Book
My reason for sharing this publication is personal: Janis has included my quote on the back cover.
I appreciate this recognition and am happy to help introduce the book to people who may be interested in exploring it.
I also think there is value in sharing the work of authors beyond our immediate reading circles. A book that one person discovers today may become an interesting reading experience for someone else tomorrow.
That is one of the simple benefits of recommending books: we give others the opportunity to discover something new.

One Final Thought
We cannot always know the complete story behind a person, a decision, or a first impression. What we can do is remain curious, ask better questions, and allow new information to refine our understanding.
That is a useful principle in personal relationships, professional life, and the books we choose to read.
I am pleased to share this publication with my readers. If the title interests you, visit the Amazon page and explore it for yourself.
Thank you for reading.
